Nasเป็นศิลปินที่เติบโตในควีนบริดจ์ นิวยอร์ก เป็นลูกชายของนักดนตรีแจ๊ส Olu Dara พอเรียนได้เกรด 8 จึงตัดสินใจที่จะลาออกจากโรงเรียน เพื่อก้าวสู่การเป็นแร็ปเปอร์อย่างเต็มตัว จนถึง ปี 1991 เขามีโอกาสไปร่วมงานกับ Main Source เพียง 1 เวิร์ดที่เขาร่วมแร็ปใน Live at the bbq ก็สามารถทำให้วงการฮิปฮอปฝั่งตะวันออกหันมาสนใจเขาในทันที เขาได้เซ็นสัญญาเข้าอยู่ในสังกัด โคลัมเบีย เร็คคอร์ด มีผลงานอัลบั้มแรกคือ Illmatic (1994) ซึ่งเขาก็ประสบความสำเร็จกับอัลบั้มแรกนี้อย่างงดงาม แถมอัลบั้มนี้ยังสร้างเพลงอิตเอาไว้อีกมากมาย จนเหล่าแฟนเพลง รวมไปถึงนักวิจารณ์ ต่างยกย่องให้เป็นอัลบั้มเพลงฮิพฮอพที่ดีที่สุดอัลบั้มหนึ่ง และในครั้งนี้ Nas ได้จัดทำภาพยนตร์เชิงสารคดีเกี่ยวกับชีวประวัติของตนเองบวกกับเบื้องหลังการ ทำงานในชุดอัลบั้มแรกใน20ปีที่แล้ว ซึ่งในเนื้อหาสารคดีนี้จะเป็นการเดินทางย้อนไปเมื่อ20ปีที่แล้วของการทำอัลบั้มนี้ว่ามีที่มาอย่างไร ซึ่งในวันที่ 2ตุลาคมนี้ จะเป็นการพรีเมียร์สารคดีชุดนี้ครั้งแรก และนับถือว่าเป็นการสร้างประวัติศาสตร์อันยิ่งใหญ่ส่วนนึงของวงการฮิพฮอพไปตลอดกาล
